Fourth Graders spent part of the waning days of their summer vacations writing campaign speeches. They were all proud of their work, but they knew, too, after watching the professional politicians that there was room for improvement. Their rewrites tended to be shorter. The “candidates” brought in family, touching scenes from their youth, highly qualified running mates, and switched a lot of their content from descriptions of their own programs to attacks on their opponents' ideas. Their speeches were videotaped. After that, the students had time to work with iMovie to embellish their work. You may notice graphics, special effects, and the addition of music. We all wish that we could have had more time to hone the raw speeches and the videos, but we are also very proud of what we have produced. |
