Animation Elective

Animation Elective: Spring, 2005

For the spring Animation Elective, students worked to plan, create, and edit short animated movies.

Students used four applications for their movies:

•KidPix Deluxe 3
•iStopMotion
•iMovie
•GarageBand

Participants went through the complete process of creating a video:
brainstorming, storyboarding, shooting, and editing.

The Three Little Pigs
by Catherine and Jean, Grade 5

For our animation project we used three programs: Garage Band, iMovie, and iStopMotion. We filmed in iStopMotion using backgrounds from KidPix Deluxe 3.

Jean drew the pictures of the pigs.We moved the pigs little by little, taking a picture each time the pigs were moved. After we were done, we brought the pictures into iMovie.

We created sound in GarageBand using the different loops that the program had.

We inserted the sound into iMovie. Then we recorded our own voices in iMovie and inserted them into the movie. Then we added the titles and ending using iMovie. Our movie was then finished.

My movie is about friends cheering each each other up and helping them. I used a portion of the song, Reach by S Club 7 and characters from Tracy Beaker's show (Tracy Beaker is a show in Britain). I hope you like it.

Cow Moovie
by Andrea, Grade 6

My Cow Moovie is a fun-filled adventure of a young cow called Adriana, who wanted to try something she had never done before. In the end, she discovers something in life that is amazing and that she is glad she did. To find out more about Adriana and her wonderful story, watch my cow movie. Enjoy!

The Life Story of Bill Gates
by Jack, Grade 7

Does anybody know exactly how Bill Gates got so rich? Mr. Gate's secret is revealed on this playful short animation.

Note: There is a couple of sound effects. Since it is difficult to read the text on this web version of the animation, here is the text that as it appears:

1. Bill: Hey
2. Woman: You are so lucky. Something good will happen to you. I can feel it!
3. Bill: You think? I bet you a quarter something won't.
4. Woman: You're on! Bye.
5. He went inside.
6. He slipped the CD-ROM into the slot and had it mass produced.
7. and waited..
8. 3 days Later...
9. Woman: Thanks!
10. The End? (Will he ever stop making money?)
